Has it been fun?
Yes I have enjoyed learning about the blogging experience as well as developing better research skills and learning to be patient. The blog has taught me a lot about this area in technology which I really didn't know about before. I found resourcing information annoying in the beginning but after discovering the British Library Website with its wealth of knowledge began to enjoy reading and learning about the library’s history so that was fun. It was reassuring to know that I can edit my blog as I gathered further information. So with the task complete I am happy with my research results and the overall experience of becoming a blogger and that has been fun.
What have you enjoyed most?
The learning curve of how to become a blogger. Setting up my blog and becoming familiar with the blog pages and how they work. Seeking out information for my topic and in the process discovering how the British Library began and progressed to current times. I have a better understanding of research techniques. Being able to share this information and view and read other students blogs.
What was the most difficult task?
How to add a video to the content and use the edit tools in the beginning. Another problem I came across was when adding my sixth blog post titled 'Development West of Pancras Station' the background colour and text colour that I had changed with my second blog post reverted to black/white and despite a number of attempts to change this via the template it would not change. To solve the problem I reverted back to my original template but no matter how many attempts I tried to change the line spacing in the first two paragraphs was unable to solve this problem. Why the last paragraph of information became no line space as the rest of my blog posts is beyond my technical knowledge. I also found time spent at the computer ran away whilst working of my blogs to get them up to presentable standard. I had to remind myself to take breaks away from the computer often.
Have you surprised yourself. How?
Yes I have surprised myself from what I have learnt from both the practical aspect of creating a blog as well as being patient whilst researching information I have gathered about my topic.
Will you use any of these tools in the future?
Maybe I will use these tools in the future but at this stage am not sure. I have recently learnt about using face book and do enjoy the interaction with other people by sharing information via Web 2.0. Sometmes I find it can become too time consuming when there are other tasks that need completion. I did ask the staff in the tafe library I am working in and they do not use blogs at their workplace. But I did discover myself that the Swinburne Library does have a blog and that is interesting to read, especially about book reviews. One of the other library students started up a blog about working in the library work and jobs advertised and I do read this from time to time. Yes, blogging can be a useful tool and another way of sharing information.
